Before you arrive, we'll discuss your jewelry items, decide what type(s) of appraisals best suit your needs, and I'll estimate the time and cost you might expect.

When you arrive with your jewelry, we'll go over any remaining questions or concerns you might have, and discuss the relevant history of your pieces.

 

If your appraisal requires full documentation, I'll take the time needed to inspect each item for condition, weights, measurements, material makeup, quality of construction, and all maker and assay marks. I'll identify gemstones, their quality, and the natural or synthetic origin. I'll look for provenance and/or period of the piece, and take photographs to document its details. I will color, clarity, and cut grade diamonds, plotting all 1.00 carat and above. Your diamonds will be reliably screened for possible lab creations or simulants with a GIA iD100 gem testing device.

 

You can decide whether to wait while I examine your jewelry, or explore downtown! The Custom's House Museum, local shops and amazing restaurants are all within a couple of blocks of my office. I love to offer recommendations of nearby things to do but, whatever you decide, your jewelry will return home with you the same day!

 
All appraisal values require research to complete. Certain pieces will require extra time. I will make use of not only market data sources, such as Rapnet, wholesale price lists, comparable wholesale items, and current metal market and manufacturing costs, adding the appropriate markup; but in the majority of cases I will also be integrating trending data from several relevant market level sales comparables, to accurately determine the value of your jewelry.

 

Depending on the number and complexity of your pieces, you will usually receive your completed Appraisal Report within a few days.
